The Bog Garden area is to be found in the lower Rock Close. It features two waterfalls which add an atmospheric background, a raised wooden boardwalk that passes through large groups of Gunnera manicata or ‘Giant Rhubarb’ which look like something out of a prehistoric landscape, and many different varieties of bog plants.
The oldest trees in Blarney Castle are to be found here. A group of three Yews (Taxus baccata) sit together on an island, and may have been there for up to 600 years! Also look out for the willow tunnel at the end of the boardwalk which is a much more recent addition.
