Marching into spring

March is usually a very busy month for us in the gardens. The usual maintenance jobs such as grass cutting, edging and weed control are all now ongoing, but there are still many seasonal jobs to complete .......

February Flowers

The unseasonal weather is continuing and whether we like it or not we are in for an early spring. There are already magnolias, rhododendrons and cherry trees in flower throughout the gardens, which is wonderful to see, but leaves me somewhat unsettled......

A return to winter?

It’s been a very funny month in the gardens. The start of January felt very spring like, and we found ourselves cutting grass and spraying hard surfaces for weeds, which is something I found very alarming.....

Octobers rich tapestry

October is one of my favourite months as it generally brings dramatic changes throughout the grounds and gardens. We’ve had our first few frosty mornings and the arboretums have transformed into their autumn coats which come in so many wonderful colours and shades.....
