A return to winter?
It’s been a very funny month in the gardens. The start of January felt very spring like, and we found ourselves cutting grass and spraying hard surfaces for weeds, which is something I found very alarming.....
The end of another year
December flew by in the usual blur of Christmas madness and I find myself reflecting on the past year’s events. 2018 was a challenge here in the gardens. We faced extremes of weather, which I’m starting to think will become the norm rather than infrequent.......
November news
This time of year is always hectic here in the gardens. A lot of people think that we slow down in the winter months but in reality it never does! As our tourist season dies down and the general maintenance jobs like grass cutting ease off we start our seasonal jobs and new projects.....
Octobers rich tapestry
October is one of my favourite months as it generally brings dramatic changes throughout the grounds and gardens. We’ve had our first few frosty mornings and the arboretums have transformed into their autumn coats which come in so many wonderful colours and shades.....
Septembers gone
September has been and gone in a flash and brought with it a change in the season and hopefully a return to more predictable weather. I do worry about the coming winter and possible storms though, as well as some early predictions of extreme cold. Anyway, we just have to wait and see.......
Back on track in August
August finally saw a much needed break in the weather with cooler temperatures and some much needed rain. It’s given both us and the plants a bit of relief .......
